Pre-Pointe class is designed for students at an intermediate level who are preparing for pointe work in the future. This class focuses on strengthening the feet and ankles, and lengthening the legs for proper placement on releve using barre and center work exercises as well as across the floor combinations. All exercises will be taught based on level of ability. When students demonstrate the strength and skill needed to progress to the next level, they will be permitted to take this class ``en pointe``. Students will also learn about pointe shoes, how to sew and tie the ribbons, proper foot care and vocabulary skill needed to advance onto the next level. PRE-POINTE & POINTE Pointe work is a central element of ballet that plays a key role in the advancement and success of a serious student. To begin pointe work, instructor approval is required as well as several years of previous ballet experience. Students usually do not begin pointe until the ages 11 or 12. Students will learn barre and center exercises based on their individual progression. More advanced students will also have a chance to learn a selection of pointe variations during class time. |
